The intention of this work is to question unbridled urban growth, by occupying empty buildings I have mapped in Rio de Janeiro. This city, in particular, has performed several works to host 2016 Olympics, but still presents old problems related to territorial occupation. Homeric works are carried out with taxpayer money, while there are forgotten spaces – and people.
More concerned with "Olympic legacy" and "international repercussions", politicians ignore social an environmental issues. Indigenous, quilombolas (descendent of slaves) and landless groups (Movimentos Sem Terra) are always left by side. Even an entire village (Vila Autódromo) was destroyed to build Olympic stadiums.
The veils used in this work, colorful ghosts, are metaphors about the invisibility of these people, invariably placed as marginal. Ruins and empty spaces dialogue with a city in constant and endless works. Wreckage and skeletons are portraits of politics in Brazil, in a complete state of collapse.
